He's pretty straightforward about that in interviews he's done. He attributes a lot of it to what he learned working with Charles Poliquin. He freely admits that marketing is just marketing, and a necessity for getting the word out in today's social media world. What I think is "genius" about the basic program is the detailed approach to building up from literally almost nothing and being able to work through all the way up to some pretty high functional standards. At the end of the day, it's just 7 simple exercises (with one being optional) and 4 stretches. There's a lot more for those who want it, but that's it for the base program.
