Polish Gov., bought two new, highly advanced "on line" spy software, regardless, that they used Israeli`s >Pegasus< already.
Funny thing is, that they are able to collect data via camera and microphone, even if you turn of your phone.
so,
Poland catching up the China, as rest of the word do, I suppose.
In time of quantum computers, and AI, we are entering into real "Big Brother" time.

Any >light in the tunnel?<
with, the hope, that it isn`t a train... ???

If you see how the forum censored others topic, you should not feel surprised. It’s all about power of control.

hmm,
more about "knowing everyone", this leads to power of control.
It may be used for censoring, but it`s lo level technique... ;)

It's the future of societies! George Orwell wrote abou tit and it tends to take place in htose societies where they claim democracy is the law.

The UK is one of the most photo intensive societies (video, wireless tools for safety/security-so they say and there is a point) and then the proliferation of Russians use of car cameras.
China has been using video technology (far more than even their arch enemy Japan) for the subjugation of their western province surveillance to the extent of putting them (Uighers) in "reeducation camps" to teach them about adopting Han values and destruction of their own native culture. It is the future..regardless of political orientation or inclination..

Yup,
Orwel, Vonegut`s >Pianola<, or Gilliam`s move >Brasil< , to name just a few (from many) pieces of art about Batiuszka Stalin's wet dreams.
However
What`s really terrifying me, - that something what was Sci- fi dark visions (with couple of good jokes) 40 years ago, became our reality,
but
w/o the jokes... -bolt-

and,
you know, Y.,- political orientation means nothing, in this case, it just labels to cover what in Polisch language has the name
> zamordyzm< ;),[where "murderousness " is stupid google translation. Meaning is- keep your mouth close, or we kill you ], and "we" (democracy) , allowing it to happen.

Autocracies are not democracies, by definition. Nowadays, these labels have no meaning because people make them mean what they want. Giving food to the hungry and shelter to the homeless is Christianity when Jesus says it but socialism when someone on "the left" says it.

I don't think the cameras are the problem. They're just the tools. The police state existed already; it was simply limited to where there could be actual policemen. If people didn't like cameras, there would be no door cams and garage cams, etc.

Poland is a specific case --and it ain't socialist :). It's an excellent example of how its type of government can screw over its own people, however. But, hey, it's not as bad as Belarus. Or, am I wrong about that.

Not yet,
hopefully Kaczynski is still step behind Łukaszenko... :)
Yes, Steve, Poland with his mix of Catholic Church and freedom is kind of specific case,
as others has his own characteristic >twist<

..."The police state existed already; it was simply limited to where there could be actual policemen....

you see - this is THE problem, right now everybody has his own policeman in a pocked. This time he is undercover as your cellular phone.
hmm,
maybe it is natural evolution of the society - full control of everyone.
BUT
this mean - evolution to the point where "Big Brother" became God.
and
I don`T LIKE IT.
