Yeah, if we'd only listened to Trump, all the murders and beheadings would have been avoided. Because ... he would have made a deal with the Taliban. Doodoo. Nobody here wanted to do anything about the stonings, beheadings, monument destructions, and killings that the Taliban were doing in 2000. They certainly wouldn't have wanted to accept thousands of Muslim women who wanted to flee Afghanistan.
That's the thing; I don't give Biden a pass on how it's turning out. He's the CiC, and it's his watch. What I'm not going to do is the slimy hypocritical tactic of saying, for ex., "people die every day," "we can't be the world's policeman or emt," "we have to take care of AMERICA first." But, how about giving us some good reasons why we it was good for America to have been there for 18 out of those 20 years?
Yeah, leaving is a shit show. The Taliban aren't invaders; they live in Afghanistan and all they had to do was wait for the US to leave. The only thing the US could have done --and it would have been impossible in 6 months-- would be to make the Afghan forces strong enough to maintain their own security. It turns out that many simply took off their uniforms and left. So, who's failure was that? The Taliban were in control of Afghanistan in 2001. The U.S. led coalition forced them to flee, even though (iirc) they never claimed to have had anything to do with 9/11. Coalition forces cleared out the terrorist training camps. Why did we stay? It's not about burkhas; there's no oil; though nation re-building, construction, and providing protection for newly elected politicians made some people a ton of cash. We spent trillions of dollars, but tell us why?
Oh, another irony is that part of the Trump deal provided for the release of Taliban prisoners.

President Trump warned in characteristically over-the-top terms during a political rally in Michigan on Thursday night that Joe Biden, if elected, would invite “terrorists” into the suburbs by raising the cap on the number of refugees allowed to resettle in the United States.
He made these comments as the Afghan government – under pressure from his administration – reluctantly released high-value Taliban prisoners who were allegedly involved in killing American troops.
The irony is that the ones released are the current leaders. Trump demanded they be released as part of his "peace deal." But, that still doesn't make it his fault. He just released the terrorists. However, with all the sympathy for the Afghan people, I'm sure no one will mind welcoming our anti-Taliban friends.
Predicton: Watch Russia just walk in Ukraine and China take over Taiwan and Biden do nothing.
I predict you'll call him a war monger if he does anything. Btw, Russia waltzed in a took over the Crimea and is still waging war with Ukraine on TRUMP's watch. Kim will shoot off some missiles, and you'll say that Biden is weak. "America first" is fine. But, if we're going to help people for humanitarian reasons, that's fine too. We don't want to help Afghan people. Sso, there's no need to pretend. Save the outrage.
