Banning it shouldn't be necessary. Then again, would fighters gouge each other's eyes out if there wasn't a rule? Why would anyone want to end someone's career deliberately? Why wasn't the move banned earlier? Did no one use it before? (I'm asking because I don't watch the videos).

Well there def are some rules. No idea if one should be added.
i read elsewhere that objection toward this kick has been raised before since jon jones have used it dagerously during his career. the kick should be banned, an strike to a joint is of course intentional to be crippling, there is no time for tap-outs as there is with jointlocks........but then strikes to the head a prime target in martial arts are also potentially crippling and even lethal.
i suggest semi-contact for strikers competition, and no joint crippling techniques allowed for wrestling competitors. The UFC has brought down humanity into a dirty pit...

i feel like we are coming back to the whole reason that the Queensbury rules were formulated. Should it be banned? I suppose if groin strikes are not allowed under the UFC ruleset then knee kicks should not be allowed either, same logic? Really unsure here though... it is currently a legal technique and people should know how to defend against it I guess.

..." people should know how to defend against it I guess." well, they should know how to defend against groin kicks/tarring off, eyes gouging, etc., also. We allow for "anything go", or not. UFC came to live with this idea (any style, any weight and very small rules set) and we get : ..."The UFC has brought down humanity into a dirty pit..."
