Thoughts and prayers become mockery when those who instituted the sociietal directive (legal right) knows that nothing will change meaning an ever increasing number of deaths will occur in the future because nothing done to curb the revenue increase incentive of access guaranteed to benefit the industry. It does not help that Uvalde, as a small toen lacked the training, the manpower and an Active SHooter awareness incentive to stack/breach and destry the will of the shooter.
They lacked the incentive of IA drills to cordon off the areas and enter the school comples in an efficient manner to counteract the shooter's preparation.

Althouygh they tried to forbid entry and did block main ingress/egress, I read a story about a woman who despite being handcufffed and prevented from entereing the school, she was able to later, on her own initiative) break from the crowd and free her own children, where if law enforcement had some foresight, they would have been aware that the first 15 minutes are the window they needed to breach the building.
The habitual pattern is that urban areas are the ones that need such training but it shown as long as weapons can be easily gotten, we are all unsafe despite thinking it wont touch US.

No other country in the world has the pattern that we have elementary schools become the targets of unstable evil people bent on seeking the weakest and those less able to fend for themselves. Truly a sad moment!
When fascism comes to US America, It will be wrapped in the US flag and waving a cross. An astute patriot

What is "extensive training".

What does that mean. :P

"Extensive" compared to watching some 15-minute video about handling firearms before one is allowed at a range.

How about 30 days of in-person classes (sort of a boot camp), teaching theory and practice, implanting awareness of and deep respect for the potential deadliness of mishandled firearms; including tactical stuff. With extensive psychological eval bits worked into the curriculum.

Comprehensive, serious, tough tests at the end of that, and if you get anything less than an 'A' in any of them (theory, practice, or psych eval), you don't get to own any firearms. Feel free to take as many of those 30-day classes as you like (at your expense) and try again.

How ya gonna get the bad guys to go through the class ?

For those unable to pay, who will pay for them?

In many cities in the US , The number of people shot and killed on a weekly basis often exceeds the number of people shot and killed in mass shootings.

Notice there was no thread made for them, is it different

Could anybody explain to me the tactical motivation behind twenty cops sitting around bullshitting and drinking water while a lone gunman with no training was systematically murdering children.

Because I'm a brain dead liberal, I don't understand.

I would think that, because cops are tough and smart and well trained and have the hearts of heroes, the thought of these children being slaughtered would pull them through the door.

I mean, they have training and tactics, right? Roughly 40 percent of the towns budget. They have weapons and bullet proof vests.

I'm sure they knew what they were doing, though. They're there for us, to keep us safe. To protect us from violent criminals who want to murder us.

Isn't that what the thin blue line is? Protecting citizens from criminals?

I just wish they would explain, though, I'd love to understand why they stood around bullshitting for an hour while innocent children were being gunned down.

Because I guess that's just what heroes do.

40% of cops are heroes, right? Just Google "40% of police"

Nope, not there to keep people safe...mistake to think so... :-\

It might be more correct to understand that they are there to enforce the law..

The ones that those in charge of them, agree with :P

WASHINGTON, June 27 - The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation.

It’s not just that the police cannot protect you. They don’t even have to come when you call.

In most states the government and police owe no legal duty to protect individual citizens from criminal attack.

The District of Columbia’s highest court spelled out plainly the

“fundamental principle that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular individual citizen.”5

https://fee.org/articles/just-dial-911- ... rotection/

:P

The women’s first call to D.C. police got assigned a low priority, so the responding officers arrived at the house, got no answer to their knocks on the door, did a quick check around, and left. When the women frantically called the police a second time, the dispatcher promised help would come—but no officers were even dispatched.

The attackers kidnapped, robbed, raped, and beat all three women over 14 hours. When these women later sued the city and its police for negligently failing to protect them or even to answer their second call,

the court held that government had no duty to respond to their call or to protect them.

Case dismissed.[

yep,,, :-\

Congratulations, you have completed part one of the assignment. Now go Google some of the other stuff I said and see what comes back.

Had another shooting yesterday, guess now isn't the time for the conversation either.

Cops armed to the teeth wait 77 minutes outside the classroom while children and teachers bleed to death.

Someone at work was trying to explain that Koreans eat dogs because it is a poor country.

I held my tongue but wanted to say trying to stop Koreans from eating dogs is like trying to stop Americans from shooting each other.

from my POV - any US government "gun selling regulation" doesn`t make big change in availability weapon/s/ in US, not only for mentally sick citizen.
There is too much legal firearms in their hands already.
Disarming whole society is impossible (so far, in present time it is task like "...trying to stop Koreans from eating dogs.".,/accurately G./) .
So,
I agree with Dimitri - murders intentions are the keys.
In fact, you can use a hammer to kill...
What we are able to do in such situation?, not to much, I`m afraid.
Just turn on the TV and scroll thru the channels.
You have to kill someone to have fun is main course.

Touch the games: even worse.
and now, lookin` on society where parents engaged in rat race, are eating tons of legal
(like prozac, earlier in `70 it was meprobramat) and forbidden drugs.
Another part of society is frustrated,- `cause they "unable to get it" and doin` the same...
How their children may look?
Let`s face the truth:
We are undercover, cruel, ruthless educated, or not- parasites.
Education?
Living on the planet, where "eat or be eaten" is mandatory, doesn`t left to much space.
We are in >samsara" now.
However, we (on the board) have The Way,
is it the only way?
I don`t know
anyway is mine.
