“A permanent member of the United Nations Security Council invaded its neighbor, attempted to erase a sovereign state from the map,” Biden said. “Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the United Nations Charter.”

History, however, is a harsh mistress, where facts become inconvenient to perception. When viewed through the prism of historical fact, the narrative being promulgated by Biden becomes flipped.

The reality is that since the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991, the U.S. and its European allies have been conspiring to subjugate Russia in an effort to ensure that the Russian people are never again able to mount a geopolitical challenge to an American hegemony defined by a “rules based international order”
that had been foisted on the world in the aftermath of the Second World War.

Putin informed the Russian people that he considered it “necessary to take the following decision, which is fully responsive to the threats we face: In order to defend our homeland, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the security of our people and that of the population and to ensure the liberated areas, I consider it necessary to support the proposal of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff to introduce partial mobilization in the Russian Federation.”

The U.S. and its NATO allies would do well to reflect on the lesson inherent in Hosea 8:7—sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.

Or, put another way, Newton’s Third Law has come back with a vengeance.

Putin’s decision to order a partial mobilization of the Russian military, when combined with the decision to conduct the referendums in the Donbass and occupied Ukraine, radically transforms the SMO from a limited-scope operation to one linked to the existential survival of Russia.

Once the referenda are conducted, and the results forwarded to the Russian parliament,

what is now the territory of Ukraine will, in one fell swoop, become part of the Russian Federation — the Russian homeland.

US threatens Russia with ‘catastrophic consequences :o ’ in case of nuke action
Washington will respond in kind if Moscow uses WMDs in Ukraine, Biden's national security adviser promised

The US will retaliate forcefully if Russia uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, President Joe Biden's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, told CBS on Sunday. He also declared that the referendums in the Donbass republics and Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions of Ukraine had not altered Washington’s support for Kiev.

Let the games begin. :)

referendums in the Donbass republics and Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions of Ukraine had not altered Washington’s support for Kiev

Unless the US agrees with them... ;D

Unfortunately, :-\ this means any attacks on them like NATO article 5, will be considered an attack on Russia itself requiring member nations to respond...
Should the attacks become severe enough, Russia outlined the consequences

Putin also warned that Russia would defend its territory – potentially including the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as the regions of Zaporozhye and Kherson after referendums this week – with “all the means available to us,” including “various weapons of destruction.”

Referendum ...
you should know, that meaning of this word is quite different in Russia.
.
Russian war doctrine allow using the nuke only in one case - when enemy is entering on their land,
so
when part of the Ukraine with a puppet government became officially Russian territory (after haha -"referendum", of course ), Putin`s hands will be free to use nuke if free Ukraine try to move.
Do you know, that follow Russian propaganda it is already - "people`s war"; reference to the great patriotic war (II W.W.), and they fighting against NATO already?

I agree, that we (the Word) are on the edge of nuclear conflict, it was clear for me from the beginning.
What bandit is doin` when his chair wobbles ? - pulls the gun, not negotiating.

I also agree,(history speaks),that US wasn`t altruistic a "good uncle Sam" everyday,
BUT
right now, it is not about US hegemony, even in the background,
it is about fundamental freedom.

propaganda ? ;D

NATO lead by the US, is fighting Russia through Ukraine, ie proxy

it was planned

Providing lethal aid to Ukraine would exploit Russia’s greatest point of external vulnerability. But any increase in U.S. military arms and advice to Ukraine would need to be carefully calibrated to increase the costs to Russia of sustaining its existing commitment without provoking a much wider conflict in which Russia, by reason of proximity, would have significant advantages.

Increasing support to the Syrian rebels could jeopardize other U.S. policy priorities, such as combating radical Islamic terrorism, and could risk further destabilizing the entire region. Furthermore, this option might not even be feasible, given the radicalization, fragmentation, and decline of the Syrian opposition.

as I stated before - little beat better be under US "umbrella", this is my life experience.
Points of v. may be different, but it doesn`t matter when nuke exchange will come to play.
Anyway, as story of humankind clearly shows - any empire is able to sustain. History is teachin` us - they all went thru natural phases of grow and fail .
Right now, our only problem is possibility A-blast during the ending sequence.
As I recall Polish history - there was three empires agreement, which wiped Poland of the map for 200 years.
Funny, - we have "holy trinity" again, however bigger, and with the ability to destroy whole planet...
Hmmm, maybe it is not for the 1st time?
Yup, we are livin` in very interesting times, our way to eternity became harder than ever,
or maybe it always was, just points of v. are different.

Best

interesting guess referendum means something different in the US

The U.S. led the way in recognizing Kosovo's secession from Serbia, with many European countries close behind even as push-back from Belgrade and Moscow intensified.

"The United States has today formally recognized Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state. We congratulate the people of Kosovo on this historic occasion," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday, adding that diplomatic ties would ensue. Meanwhile, 17 of the European Union's 27 nations, including Germany, France, Britain and Italy, said they would recognize the impoverished would-be state, according to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Kinda like Taiwan no ?

When it was recognized as sovereign state, and then not by the US agreeing to a one China policy...

Oddly enough it seems the policy controlled by the US, now supplying weaponry to Taiwan to maintain its "status" against China,

under the "one China" policy ;D
