I'd imagine one could also do the side splits holding cans of soup or something heavier to get a similar effect.

Think so.

I’m so immobile for this so just used a small weight to extend my stretch a bit (but actively using the muscles to try to tell my body it’s fine)

His point about having this posture at very low positions applies to MA and basketball (way far into the video)

I do yoga once a week to keep the flexibility and when I am training seriously would do zhan zhuang in bow and arrow stance and empty stance to work on the very low positions

On a hiatus from yoga.

Tried this weighted stretching…ends up being about 2/week as he said.

For now just walking into down dog (not too far) and back up.

Seems to be helping quite a lot. If I get to a “textbook” down dog, that would be my most flexible state so far

Also working toward “Asian squat”…not sure I can get a flat back in it.
