I use red light to stimulate Fire Element acupuncture points during open periods according to the 12 Terrestrial Branches Timetable. 8-)

i tried it on my head (the vanity of saving some hair follicles) and then on my knee (only once so far). absolutely no idea if it's had any effect. possibly placebo effect.

interesting. summary of possible benefits (chatGPT):

Promoting Tissue Repair and Wound Healing: Red light therapy can enhance the production of collagen and fibroblasts, which are essential for wound healing and tissue repair. It may be used to accelerate the healing of skin wounds, burns, and surgical incisions.

Reducing Inflammation: Red light therapy has anti-inflammatory effects by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. This makes it a potential treatment for inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and chronic pain.

Relieving Pain: By reducing inflammation and increasing circulation, red light therapy can help alleviate pain associated with various conditions, including muscle and joint pain, neuropathy, and fibromyalgia.

Enhancing Skin Health: Red light therapy can improve skin tone and texture by stimulating collagen production and promoting blood flow. It is often used for anti-aging purposes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and scars.

Boosting Hair Growth: Some studies suggest that red light therapy can stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth in individuals with certain types of hair loss, such as androgenetic alopecia.

Enhancing Cellular Metabolism: Red light therapy is believed to increase the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the energy currency of cells. This can improve cellular function and overall energy levels.

Red light therapy is typically administered using specialized devices that emit red or near-infrared light. These devices can be used in clinical settings or at home, and treatment sessions are relatively short, usually lasting anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the condition being treated and the specific device used.

The exact mechanisms behind red light therapy's effects are not fully understood, but it is believed to work by stimulating the mitochondria within cells. Mitochondria are responsible for producing ATP and are involved in various cellular processes. When exposed to red or near-infrared light, mitochondria may become more efficient, leading to the observed therapeutic benefits.
