Except the we're the proxies. Capitalism is about making a profit; it's not about a country, but a corporation. People become proxies for corporate competitions. Then the suckers fight among themselves to make sure the owner makes a profit. And, if it's necessary to pay for food, shelter, care, and taxes, it's necessary to work for someone.
Capitalism turns people into commodities. I.e., they are used to produce income. They don't just buy merch; they are merch. Social media outlets are the clearest examples. Even the "news" suffers the same problem. What's 'important' is only what will get people to watch commercials. Success isn't judged by accuracy, only by viewership.
Meh, capitalism always places profit above morality. The only difference is who can legally be a capitalist. More Americans have died from legal opioids than from illegal opioids for most of the past 30 years. All produced as legally as cigarettes, alcohol, and firearms. What's the difference between the Sacklers or some other family making billions from their product and the Guzmans when it comes to capitalism? But, ya can't really blame them either. It's like a bank dispossessing an elderly person's home. Grapes of Wrath stuff.
