There's an issue w/ the logic here.
A CAN do B does not equal to A IS doing B. Also, assuming the Sun is the most likely source of climate change, it still does not affect whether human activity is ALSO causing climate change. It might, of course, affect the focus of your efforts to help alleviate the problem, which will probably involve a change in human activity anyway.

use the "quote" button. just like the old software.

Oops. Reason why I didn't see the quote button is I normally turn off the graphics when visiting this site at work (mostly just in someone's avatar is NSFW). Thanks for answering anyway.

Or politicians for that matter. *cough*Al Gore*cough*

Funny, you were the first person to mention his name, at least I'm sure I haven't brought it up. The most recent information I received on the topic was a documentary done by scientists who are studying the REAL natural phenomenon of the melting of ice in the Antarctic region and its effects on the local species and their seasonal migration habits.

::)

Well I was just agreeing with your statement about non-science degreed people pontificating about the environment. His name stood out in my mind.

Speaking of gas and the economy...(from another post)

Thought you might like to read the following:

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;

2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;

3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);

4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses);

5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;

6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

OK, you have presented evidence of decline, and you state imply that the Democratic Congress is to blame.

Care to explain exactly how the Democratic Congress was the proximate cause of these downturns?

In other words, is it coincidence or is there a correlation?

MikeC, I find it hard to believe that was a serious post. I am no fan of the democrats but would you care to explain how they influence the global oil price or the massive bad debt in the global financial markets which are the causes of all the points you mention?

last time i looked the republicans have been in control of Washington for the last EIGHT YEARS!

When Dufus took office, a barrel of oil was $24.00, now it's over $125 and climbing by the minute..... Mission Accomplished George, Mission Accomplished. We have OIL men running the country god darn it! We've been duped.

I'm sure GW/Cheney are heavily invested in oil, so their stock portfolio during this current economic recession crisis has done just fine! Time to kick the bums out and start all over.

Yes, George Bush sets the price of a barrel of oil. Thanks for that tip.

Maybe invading and bringing mayhem and chaos to oil producing nations and everywhere else may have something to do with it. ;)

Why exactly does the oil cost so much in your opinion? Who is mostly likely to gain from high oil prices? Who in Washington is connected with the oil industry? ;)

Mike, you are wrong. The president has veto power over congress and has demonstrably diminished them right up until the people said fuck that and whacked the republicans outta there.

George doesn't set the price of oil, but you can bet your ass he has crony-ism going on and when that is mixed with speculators possibly being involved in rigging the up costs, which by the way will be under investigation in the coming months. The Bush family is practically blood tied to the Saudi oil barons, tat is known and shown. I think they're right in their pockets and it's a mutual hand job scenario.

so, don't piss on our heads and tell us it's raining. The reps have fyucked over the people of america and the executive branch is doing some global ass fucking. Bush is a criminal in the eyes of many and he has made America a despised nation. A moniker they did not have under Clinton.

People world wide actually are quite open with their vitriol and hate of America now.

It's not American people, but it is George W. Bush and his pals that have made it so.

If you can't see that glaring reality, then you simply can't see.

there is still a lot of money here. where there is money people will come. but the money is leaving. no one is investing in the US anymore. stop denying the fact that we are lagging behind other countries on many fronts now.

most of the economic problems in this country are caused by our pointless "war" in iraq. afghanistan's need cannot be denied, but iraq is taxing our resources way more than anything else. we're more in debt now than ever before. why do you think the dollar is worth so little now?
