Funny, you were the first person to mention his name, at least I'm sure I haven't brought it up. The most recent information I received on the topic was a documentary done by scientists who are studying the REAL natural phenomenon of the melting of ice in the Antarctic region and its effects on the local species and their seasonal migration habits.

It's not always about politics, sometimes its about real issues that go beyond partisan concerns.

If you're worried about the elites wanting to control everything start looking at the elite class that compromises the 1% of the US population and controls over 90% of the wealth.

the elites are clearly already in control and do so by ownership of the current gov't

Well Walter, so far the 1% who own 50% of the wealth haven't told me how to run my life, or what I should think or say...

... so, - are they really THAT bad ?

I guess I wouldn't mind WTF the peasants were doing or thinking if I was one of the elite 1%, too... (After all, they are irrelevant fodder, right? As long as the 1% get to keep reaping monies)

well mike, gas is over $4 a gallon now, making commuting a very costly affair for the "little people". and the 1% is also telling gay people that they can't marry each other (except in california now).

plus there's lots of new money that is liberal, mandating environmental reform etc.

I think the wealthy are always telling us what to do. they're squeezing out the middle class, and starving out the lower class right now. for a healthy state, you need to have a more even distribution of wealth.

Nianfong,

Anyone who lived through the gas crisis of the 70's or anyone who has heard of it should have seen this coming, ...

.... oil prices, I mean.

I have my life set up to where even $8 a gallon gas won't hurt me directly, ...

... it will hurt my income and make everything else cost more, but as long as people want to drink, gamble, and have crazy causual sex, - I'll do okay.

And $ 8 a gallon gas is going to be what it take for inventers and producers to come up with something better.

They will come up with it because they will be rewarded for it...

... But if you take away their insentives to invent and produce, and compete- they will lay low, and let burocrats and the regulators fuck us all up the ass on the level playing feild of socialism.

um it's the "level playing field" of "socialism" that has forced hybrid cars to happen--all thanks to california regulation of car sales.

if we wait until gas is $8 a gallon, we'll be BEHIND the curve. that's the problem with the US today. we're BEHIND the curve. and a lot of people are in denial about it. government regulation right now will help us get caught up to some degree. our leaders are supposed to be able to look ahead to foresee and defuse problems before they occur.

Personally, I take public transit to and from work--I'm one of the lucky few. gas only comes into acct for me going to kungfu classes on sundays. and when I take girls out on dates.
