ps3 vs wii

I think I may consider a new gaming console, which would you recommend?
(And don't just go with what you bought yourself)

More notes in favor of the wii.

depends on what you want. wii is basically the newest, best party game system. not really for serious gamers. or people that want to watch blu ray. PS3 pretty much the cheapest/most full featured blu-ray player out there. I have a PS3, but I also want to buy a wii as a party system.

wii games look like plenty of fun. esp wii boxing to me. plus there's all these new wii fitness/yoga/martial arts games now that actually teach yous tuff. it's pretty interesting.

I really like the more physically active controller methods, they've really taken the technology a great leap forward with this stuff, IMO.

Plus it make girls jiggle in ways that make my pants fit funny.

from playing both at friends' house....

i like wii better between the 2.
one of my cousin in taiwan has wii with modChip or something, that play normal burnt DVD wii game.

but given the choice, i would pick DS lite due to size.
this is what i actually have at home.
there are lots site for homeBrew DS if you are into that sort of things.
i found a 60 in One DS game card in Taiwan and withOut any modification at all.
most of the interesting games on '60 in one' are japanese, and chinese, with a about 20 english games.

for the best bang for the buck, i would stick w/ PS2 for now.
PS3 w/ bluRay is OK but not really worth it right now.

cheers,
John H.

I would LOVE to have a Wii. I would also buy a PS3 if I needed a Blu Ray reader. The only gaming console that I have at home, besides my trustworthy but capricious PC, it is a PSP. As most of you know, it is an entertainment jewel. The only things that I would add to it, are a keyboard and a native TV connector.

FYI teo, if you get a pS3, you can stream videos to your PSP, and control the PS3 via your PSP wirelessly.

i'd love a ps3 if it weren't so damn expensive! the graphics are simply amazing! but the kids want a wii, so that's gonna be our ps2's new companion, i guess (assuming we can find one).

if there's one thing i don't need , it's another credit card. here's an idea--next time you qualify for a free ps3, just have 'em ship it to my house. ;D

Thanks Fong. I heard that the PSP can be used as some sort of controller for the PS3. The streaming thing sounds good too.

I don't know when I will get one, but I will whenever we go the Blu Ray route (unless dirt cheap Blu Ray readers will be available then).

Forget the boxing. It doesn't react well to authentic moves. I get beaten all the time by little girls who just flail. Mario Cart is a lot of fun. But I prefer to play it with the regular controller, not the wheel.
