Let's face it, this isn't a serious IMA forum anymore, it's mainly here for distraction and entertainment value.

I'd say at least 1/3 to 1/2 of this board have proven that they have no faith in internal methods and seem to be here just to criticize or make fun of internal practices. The ones who are posting on internal methods lately seem to be choosing the most controversial and least helpful discussions.

Oh, Sheister! Is this the first big whine about the forum for the new forum? It feels broken in now!

:)

S- has actually enjoyed lots of on topic stuff lately

Thats Shyster to you, Mister.

;)

And you're a little late to the party, see the thread on self-defense, my comment and Brian Kennedy's follow-up.

McBush would get nothing done, and Hillary the same more or less, and after all, that's what it's all really about. It's about getting something done and making the kind of positive changes that helps us working classes and society in general. It's no secret that the republicans hate the Clintons, and it's no secret that "most" of the democrats are anti-McSame (except for Lieberman and a few select others), so that leaves us with the only true uniter running in this race, Mr. Barack Obama the new voice of hope and vision to put us back on track. I'm FIRED UP and READY TO GO! YES WE CAN BABY, YES WE CAN!!

Psst, it's no secret most Democraps hate the Clintons too.

And as far as 'reaching across the aisle' goes, McSame(as you call him) has tried to work with Democrats in the past. Remember, the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform?

Jus sayin,

Mike

Democraps? I've heard of Republicrats, a term ofetn used to describe John Kerry, but Democraps?

They must be a new political party, because over 17 million democrats voted for a Clinton in this election cycle. Almost as many as voted for Obama.

Oh, I get it, you are trying to insult the demoCRATS, how very clever of you.

You make my point MikeC. McSame did work with Kennedy on that bill, there's no denying that; too bad the republicans wouldn't vote for it though, so you prove my point.

I believe most of the "democraps" as you put it, did vote for it though (I'm not sure what the final count was).

Again, it's seems that the last eight years we have seen the rethuglicans keeping us in a stalemate (remember they wouldn't vote for the health care for children bill, or any of the troop withdrawal, Fix SS, etc.).

You should be happy when Obama becomes president, at least the re-thug-me-agains may give him a chance, and hopefully we'll get something done for the American people for a change, instead of more welfare and tax breaks for the super-ultra-rich elites like McSame and his corporate butt-pirates.

I prefer "REPUGlicans", like, as in, they are repugnant.

But then, the liberal elite has never been as good at distilling serious issues into funny nicknames.

I think this is a fantasy. Where are people getting the idea that the Repubs will give Obama a chance? They play hardball and own the mainstream media. Obama will be subjected to the most vile, despicable and disgusting attacks imaginable. The floodgates will open the instant the nomination is given to him. The softball treatment he's been given by the media so far will vaporize.

You are absolutely correct Jess, but I am referring to "if" he gets the presidency, which I'd say is a very real possibility. The swiftboating, character assassination, fear and smear tactics of the republicans are losing their sharpe edge, in fact, to most, they have become quite dull. Then what? Sooner or later, McCain will have to talk about issues, and when he does, I can't believe he'll have anything of value to say. Obama is fully aware of the smear-machine that is coming his way; he's totally prepared for most of it and expects it, and it will be no surprise to anyone.

BUT, once Obama's in, bar a total catastophe, he's in. THEN it's in their (republicans) own best interests to play ball, or else their party will go down the drain even moreso, than it already has. Let's remember that the brand name "republican" isn't exactly top shelf and they've got to start working with the democrats and get some bi-partisan legislation passed, otherwise what good are they and what future will they have with the American people if they try to stalemate the entire country for another 4/8 years?

steel, I hope you are right. But my cynicism is very high... I've never seen Republicans interested in issues, just in passing out billions of tax dollars to their corporate sponsors. Unfortunately, I've never seen many voters interested in issues either...

"They play hardball and own the mainstream media."

What? Like NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC? Yeah, that's some hard core fascists there. ::)

"I've never seen Republicans interested in issues,"

You mean like Nixon going to China, Lincoln freeing the slaves, that sort
of nothing?
This hyperbole is embarrassing. You are projecting all sorts of nonsense based on the eight years of the current administration.

Should I paint with such a broad brush about Dems when Clinton is impeached for lying before Congress, pardons cocaine trafficker Carlos Vignali, Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg of the Weather Underground, sexual abuser and child pornographer Melvin Reynolds, fugitive Marc Rich (after substantial gifts to the Clinton "Library" and Hillary's Senate fight by his wife), and oh, his wayward brother Roger?

So your point was what exactly? That you wanted someone who would 'reach across the aisle' or someone 'who could get things done'? Tell me, if the Republicans didn't want the McCain-Kennedy bill, or something similar, how would Mr. Obama, or any other Democrap for that matter, fare any better?

Obama bin Laden will not get elected.

Yes Mike. Obama will reach across the aisle and get bi-partisan legislation passed in Washington. The other two don't have a chance in hell of doing that. In fact, he's already done it in the short time he's been in the Senate. See below.

In the US Senate, his first year.

1. Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law (Coburn is a republican)

2. Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law - (Lugar is a republican)

Obama Bin Laden? :'(

Come on man, you're too smart for that kind of bullcrap. Even joking, it keeps us divided, and is the very reason why the republicans have alienated themselves with the American public and their brand name is in the toilet. We are sick and tired of the devisive swiftboating fear and smear tactics like that kinda crap. Mr Barack Obama does not engage in that kind of politics, and is one of the very reasons why he is now the democratic nominee. If republicans are going to keep that kind of divise dividing attacks going, then I say it will be even easier for Barack Obama to win the big seat!

As soon as you guys realize what Obama is really all about, the sooner you'll understand why he is the best candidate of the three we have to choose from.

Yes, this really is what it all comes down to. Imho (although I can just about verify it as a complete FACT), the republicans have not done, or passed a single piece of legislation that has helped the working poor and middle classes in this country for the last eight years. Nine out of ten times, every single investigation, legislation, law, decision, etc., has been sided for the corporate entity over the American citizen. Can you legally file bankruptcy now? No. Can you issue your invidual right to habeas corpus if someone/somehow accuses you of being anti-american, or a terrorist? No. Can you sue the tele-comms and phone companies for illegally wire-tapping your phone? No. This is just the beginning of a dark age called corporate fascism, and if we don't wake up soon, we'll all be slaves sooner than later. This is not hyperbole, this is a real warning.

At this point, it's up to the American public to get educated and learn what criminals we've been dealing with for the last 10 years. You may be right, but I am seeing glimmers of hope that the public is starting to wake up, and smell the roses. Especially when it starts hitting them where it hurts. The wallet! The price of food and gas is really the most important issues Americans care about, so it's becoming painfully clear we've been duped!
