Okay, a buddy of mine is really into getting dressed up in anime costumes. (And amazingly, it is neither Joe Lake, nor Rique)

That being said, he want's to know where he can get a seriously good quality qi pao for men, but something on the edgier side.

I get the impression he is hoping for something along the lines of this:



Anyone have any ideas? I think he's more than willing to shell out for some custom quality work.

dude, for guys it's not called qi pao (旗袍). it's called chang pao (長袍). qi pao is only for girls.
you can get chang pao in HK, shanghai, taipei. but from what I hear they are the best value in shanghai (or at least used to be). you get them custom tailored usually. Otherwise, I'd look for them in any of the major chinese metropolises. I heard of one place in NYC that has them, but I don't know where it is, and it will likely be $$$.

uh I believe that was "lightning bolt! lightning bolt!" IIRC. And it appeared to be wadded duct tape or the like which was being thrown in place of said lightning bolts at some guy with a fat suit and a garbage can over his head. Coulda been a girl, I hope it wasn't, because, damn.

Yeah they have some cool stuffI had a old padded Chinese jacket i brought back from Taiwan 1000 years ago it was real warm- finally wore it out. May try to get a relacement out of G.O. Should be a good place to do bizness with- they have been arround for a while...
