Her kicking at the knees on the ground was OK.

(You obviously know it all and don't give a shit about what anyone here might say or advise anyway, -- but I thought I'd try to find something positive in there. I just really hope she never gets into an actual confrontation with a determined larger male.)

Best of luck (to her)

The smiley implies you hope she does? Or implies that without you secret knowledge she won’t be able to cope with an attack?

Hey Wiz -

Don't you think you should put a little effort into the attacks?
When you strike - you don't really strike so a block or parry is not needed.
In the latest vid you don't really shoot you just slowly bend over.
Is the idea for the training to get progressively more realistic?
You seem to be making the assumption that the side step and escape is a given
and that the focus of training is on the bear paw strike or the strikes in general.
I am pretty sure I could get the take down on the shoot with her every time
in those situations while taking minimal damage from the strikes.

well let me ask you something if you were a pro baseball player teaching a beginner how to hit the ball. which would you do first . stand far back and throw a speed ball, cause that is what will happen in a real game. or stand close and throw a slow underhand pitch,so they can get used to swinging and hitting the ball, then gradually speed up the pitch and stand further away?

wiz -
That is exactly what I am saying - you are just dropping the ball
to pretend it is thrown and then having her swing.
When are you gonna find out that she can't hit the slow underhand pitch?
You don't want to find that out when you throw the speed ball.

Wiz, if you are so protective and defensive about your methods, to the point of thinking that they are perfect, why even post them here? To enlighten us?

If a guy comes into a bar, and everybody looks at him funny, common sense should tell that guy to go look in a mirror or something. Have you posted these videos on other forums?

You want to actually THROW that ball at your trainee though, even if you stand close and throw it slowly, don't you? You don't want to just toss the ball to the ground halfway between the two of you, right?

That's not a very good parallel anyway. Throwing the ball is a singular event; i.e. the ball flies through the air and you either hit it or you don't, and then it's over. An attack is continuous, unless/until the attacker is neutralized or decides to stop. Your attacks are not continuous in any shape or form -- just like 99% of MA demos out there. You are not actually trying to get her (slowly and lightly of course), instead you throw a singular half-assed mechanical "attack" and stop.

It's not about speed or intensity -- it's about quality of realism. A good neutralization/technique would actually STOP an attack, at whatever level of intensity you're engaged. I.e. the attack would cease because the attacker cannot continue, not because he didn't even try. What she does in most of those techniques will fall apart immediately if only you don't stop in the middle of things. One particularly glaring example is at 5:00 mark.

Wiz -
last ground technique - grab the punch is faulty logic.
By your logic that is following the example of hitting the fast ball
on the first day of training.
