Well put, Klonk.

Jesus. I can't believe that even my 100% clear options aren't clear enough... "High level" means LKJ etc. people!

It is very ambiguous & even after this is still ambiguous. Is this a survey about LKJ?

If someone says to me - high level IMA - I will immediately start with trying to understand their view on IMA vs. EMA.

Then we get into "high level". I am going to highlight some areas that come to mind but are not constrained by IMA vs. EMA. These are things I consider "supernormal" & are possible with dedication & training (note they overlap):

- blindfighting
- cold or inch power generated into someone's core that it shakes them to their foundation
- being able to redirect blood flow away or into areas that are cut or damaged - similarly gaining control of any autonomic part of the body
- ability to greatly overcome pain signals & have clear mind in high pressure circumstances
- iron body/golden bell conditioning at a supple, fluid level taking direct impact without having to seize up
- supersensitivity, awareness, taking a centre without the other person even being aware of this
- similarly intimate awareness of the human anatomy & it's frailties to produce reactions & manipulations that they just were not aware of - reversal goes into chinese medical healing that at times leaves western doctors baffled
- conditioned whole body power applying the legs strength & torso/dan-tien strength into extreme areas. For example the applying of this to the fingers & taking them to a level most people can't even imagine.

and many more. IMO these abilities are all very relevant to IMA/EMA.

This is all before we get into the supernatural.

So are we just doing lkj or the entire concept of high level?

I like this way of putting the question. Thanks.

May I ever so gently suggest that you meant to say, "3 times in a row." 3 times in a role would make you a porn star. 8-)

Imagine a fellow who trained under a high level IMA master in China gets into a ruck and effortlessly drops all three of the Fansher Brothers during a bar fight.

And let us imagine that our hero does this thing in one of two separate ways:
(1) Using clearly definable Bagua and HsingI techniques: Or
(2) Using his "internal" skill, but without using clearly defined or visible techniques

Which one of the two is "high level?"

I ask this as we have so many complaints on here about when CMArtists or other TMArtsists fight or spar, all their "style" seems to go out the window after the first fist is thrown, and their combat simply looks like generic kickboxing or (shock, horror) MMA.

OTOH, is the "highest level" fighter not the one who has moved beyond technique...?

What should

- "high level punch" suppose to look like?
- "high level throw" suppose to look like?

Is this "high level"? How can you tell?

Why don't you ask the question you meant to ask?

I'm pretty sure it's all there in the options...

Your question is all about relativity which nobody can argue. What it seems like you are asking is "Do you believe in magic qi balls and other things that I consider absurd in and will demonstrate that by the choices provided by this poll?"

I have never been struck with a magic chi ball before so I cannot tell you if such a thing exists. I have been struck by my Sifu in a way that caused all of my internal organs to feel like they moved 1 inch to the right and then returned to their natural position. As a student if science I am sure physics can explain why a strike that seemingly had no power could cause this reaction, but I'm versed in physics enough to explain it.

I believe in high level IMA but I don't believe that it is necessarily better or greater than high level EMA.

To be very, very clear (if I wasn't before)...

The question is... Do you believe in supernatural abilities where it is not required to touch the other person to inflict damage?

I thought that my meaning would have been clear with the recent barrage of threads on this very issue. I'm changing the thread name to reflect this clarity. If any of you need to change your answer please do so.

This has nothing to do with high level anything. Calling it "high level martial arts," says more about the person calling it that than I could say.
This nonsense as well as overly-compliant people, is a continuing embarrassment in the martial arts.
Thankfully it only attracts the gullible, less serious budo tourists and spares us from having to deal with their idiocy. I had my own run in with one of these guys. He spent all day and couldn't make one, single, thing work on me. I'm nice so I didn't do anything to embarrass him. I thought he was doing a good enough job of that already... in front of everyone!
