Professional magicians use paid assistants to make what they are doing look real. In other words, the student who took the 'chi' punch works for the magician and was only acting.

Finger strikes can put people down, but one has to train the fingers like crazy for a long period of time to do so unless they are hitting a spot like the eye or parts of the neck generally. From the look of things, this clip demonstrates the power of suggestion more than it demonstrates a weaponized hand.

I really hope this is not just a paid actor pretending to be an mma artist. At the very least using suggestion on a pre-screened martial artist would make it a lot more interesting.

Even if it's not "real" it's still can be real for certain susceptable subjects (estimated at 10% of the population but the better the hypnotist the higher the odds). So from a combat perspective if you were a good hypnotist you would need to prescreen targets for suggestability, create a conducive environment to reinforce it, then set it up and perform it. Should take a minute or two to achieve knock out power on a small sector of the population. Once it's setup it can be even near instantaneous.

So here we have a link between a validated effect (even though science does not completely know why it exists ... yet) and what is seen with arm waving people bouncing.

Of course, that's how it works.

Look at the school' he is at. He calls the instructor the greatest exponent of wing-chun in Hong Kong. He didn't look so great to me. His 2 inch punch that extinguished the candle should be called a 12 inch punch based on how far he withdrew his fist before he punched. Same when he punched the other student in the chest.

FWIW I don't think either of those clips involve any acting. Simple suggestion/NLP, as was mentioned.
