Well sir you seem to disqualify people from having a discussion with you.
1. You mentioned people not understanding real fights-
I offered that I did and asked if we could continue on that basis- you panned it, equated it to comparing dick sizes and disqualified it. SO you made statements underscoring lack of street experiences, and panned those who offered they did.
i wanted to point out that people who also have street experiences are disagreeing with you.

I offered that I trained with and know men in that venue and I happen to know what they think of MMA training and how it is valuable for training troops for several reasons, not the least of which is mental preparedness. One of whom helped design the official program. You panned that in one broad stroke.
I guess I am being asked to dismiss the opinions of seasoned special forces officers in light of your experiences and understanding?
I will leave it at that.
Dan
you want to disagree about h2h being pretty obsolote in the military nowadays? oookay, whatever you say.
your example is a bit like a cook saying physics help him with cooking: sure, maybe physics help him personally, but usually, you don't need knowledge of physics for making food. know what i'm saying?
look, if mma is your thing, more power to you, but it's about as realistic for fights to the death as boxing and wrestling. in other words, it will help you a bit, but it's a far cry from the real thing, and, judging from your experiences, you know that.

TIA
huh? i don't really have weapon training. never found a good teacher. i use weapons like i use my hands - surely not perfect, but it will have to do.
the only weapon against weapon fight i had was with swords against someone from a renaissance fair who wanted to give the TMA boy a good thrashing.
short of that, i've always been unlucky enough not to have anything usable as a weapon on hand.
@ the guys who think bj penn would fist sun lu tang:
see, that's what i'm talking about. we're made to believe mma is better than anything, even if we never have seen sun lu tang fight (at least i didn't, if anybody has a youtube link...).
same thing as "ninjutsu is strongest" in the 80s or "boxing is strongest" after the latest rocky flick. it's a very dangerous way of thinking because it robs you of an unbiased, objective world view.
