I see there is going to be a Bruce Lee musical on Broadway, should be interesting to see what they make of it

I abhor any and all musicals.*

Anything by Andrew Lloyd Weber - fetch me a bucket.

Sweeney Todd - didn't last five minutes without wanting to punch satay sticks through my eardrums (ok, so she's makes the worst pies in LAHNDAN, but it's not worth three minutes of song, is it?!)

Fiddler on the Roof - there's a spot in the 18th level of Hell reserved for anyone who was involved in this movie. The fires there are stoked with the souls of anyone who enjoyed Barbara Streisand's Yentl.

The Producers - funny as feck, but would've been a lot better without the singing.

Every so often, I get harangued and LAMBASTED by musical / Disney fanatics (indistinguishable) for not sharing their (for want of a better word) taste.

"Ian, you don't like MULAN? You don't like LES MIS? SHAME ON YOU!"
"Ian, don't you like ART?"

Yes I love art. That's why I hate musicals.

*Excepted Tenacious D and the POD.

Think about it man.

There's NO WAY this isn't a great idea.

His cha-cha background is a broadway producer's wet dream.

Bruce Lee + cha-cha + West Side Story-esque bar fight + kiais + singing = WINNER

Bruce Lee was a cha cha champion before anything else.

as a movie fu dude he was cool.

as a martial artist, i can't say really. All I've ever seen was movie fu and staged demos. I don't believe he actually ever fought anyone outside of some kid he punched out on the set of empty the dragon. Nothing official though. All fantasy stuff.

Still, if they focus on how his weird short life brought attention to asian martial arts in the mainstream of North America, it might be interesting.
If Linda Lee is involved, it will be a huge wankfest much like that dragon movie which was suckage deluxo.

Besides, nobody can beat Chuck Norris. The Chuck Norris that can be beaten is not the true Chuck Norris.

Bruce Lee entered point tournaments and beat Chuck? Whence this info? I understood he NEVER entered anything publically, though did spar and train with some of the kurhotty guys. Is this something that has just come out?

Bruce Lee the musical sounds like one belter of an idea. Let us be honest: He is far more of a pop culture icon than he is martial arts star. As long as they camp it up, it has potential. If they play it poker-faced - a la "Dragon" - then I'll bet anyone a handjob from a shemale to a shag with a superstar that it will reek.

he demoed at parker's things and i don't think the info about norris being defeated by bruce is entirely accurate except for one movie rendition from -return of the dragon-.

let's try to separate fact from fantasy though.

bruce lee was an inspiration to many but wasn't the be all and end all of martial arts by any stretch of the imagination.

His prowess was in the area of movie fu and he never actually fought professionally on any level ever.
He demoed the cheesy cheese that we all see at ma demos. meh.

take it for what it is.

I don't think Bruce Lee would have liked this idea at all.
