Gongfu in Europe

Postby HandsomeMonkeyKing on Fri Jul 11, 2014 10:25 am

Style aside, who would you recommend on mainland Europe?

Specifically I am living and the border Switzerland-Germany, but would travel if necessary.

Interested in Taiji and Yiquan but mostly because I don't know much other styles, so please don't take this too seriously into your consideration. Mostly I want to learn good gongfu.

regards

I cannot recommend any of these people, because I do not know them, but there is Yiquan in Europe associated with Yao

Isn't Ma Jiangbao (Wu taijiquan, from his father Ma Yueliang) in Germany? If I was living in Germany, that's where I'd go!

Hello, I would also recommend Serge Augier. I have participated in a seminar he gave in UK and i was amazed by the simple and efficient way he taught complicated things. He is definitely the real deal. Also all students of Serge Augier that have schools are highly recommended. Alex Kozma and Steve Benitez(Silat) in UK are also my personal favourites. They both are great martial artists and teachers.

If you are in Switzerland, I would recommend :

- the Chen taiji school in Bern http://www.chentaiji.ch/ : they teach Chen taiji and have people like Chen Bing and Chen YingJun doing regular workshops at their school (Chen YingJun is there next week end). They also have a very good Baji course, teacher is my gongfu brother Mr JaeWoo Lee , grandstudent of Wu LianZhi.

- the WuHun school in Geneva http://www.wuhun.ch/whn2012/. Teacher is Mrs Liu YuGui who teaches Li RuiDong's Taiji, Liuhe Quan and Baji from Li Shuwen branch

Chen style Small Frame in Germany: http://www.die-pagode.de/en/
Dietmar has spent many years in Taiwan, studying from odl generation of teachers there; he also teaches Xingyi, but his forte - AFAIK - is Chen style Xiaojia.

Eagle Claw - check Julian Dale, who also posts here as Wongying, he runs a school with 30 years of history in a very respected lineage coming from Liu Fameng.

Yiquan - academy in Poland, branch of Beijing Yao Chengguang's school. The president is Andrzej Kalisz, who hs been the disciple of Yao Chengguang for about two decades now; he is also member of this forum.

You can contact me for teachers in the nordic countries/Scandinavia if you are interested. One of the most well known guy here should be Li Baochun in Finland. But there are pretty interesting guys in the other countries as well.
