Written by an old gongfu brother of mine, a senior student of Sifu Whitrod and experienced fighter.

Lots of interesting things in here.

I've met him - he's full of interesting martial arts stories involving trecking through jungles! :)

Interesting article, thanks for sharing. Personally don't care much for 'academic' interpretations / philosophising about MA, would have been more interested in just a more free form story about his experiences learning MA in Singapore tbh.

It's not very academic at all. It has an academic form, but neither the language or how the way he draws his conclusions are very academic.

Haven't read the article yet. The head line says "Triads". in Dalian I often met and chatted with an Singaporian man in the coffee bar we both frequented, he used to be a police officer in what could be called the Singaporian SWAT team he had mentioned that Singapore is overall a very safe place but the Triads ar alive and sometimes kicking there.

Great article!
This is how one gets to break apart CMA lore, hagiographic lauding od style(s), outright embellishments, etc as a way to bring insightful discourse as opposed to the usual tomfollery that occurs win present CMA circles, now knows as wushu
