Yes, because civilian armed resistance worked so well in the past.

Early on the morning of 10 June 1944, Diekmann informed Weidinger that he had been approached by two members of the Milice, a collaborator paramilitary force of the Vichy Regime. They claimed that a Waffen-SS officer was being held prisoner by the Resistance in Oradour-sur-Vayres, a nearby village. The captured officer was claimed to be SS-Sturmbannführer Helmut Kämpfe, commander of the 2nd SS Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion (also part of "Das Reich" division). He may have been captured by the Maquis du Limousin the day before. Stadler ordered Diekmann to have the mayor choose thirty people to be hostages in exchange for Kämpfe.

On 10 June, Diekmann's battalion sealed off Oradour-sur-Glane and ordered everyone within to assemble in the village square to have their identity papers examined. This included six non-residents who happened to be bicycling through the town when the SS unit arrived. The women and children were locked in the church, and the village was looted. The men were led to six barns and sheds, where machine guns were already in place.

According to a survivor's account, the SS men then began shooting, aiming for their legs. When victims were unable to move, the SS men covered them with fuel and set the barns on fire. Only six men managed to escape. One of them was later seen walking down a road and was shot dead. In all, 190 Frenchmen died.

The SS men next proceeded to the church and placed an incendiary device beside it. When it was ignited, women and children tried to escape through the doors and windows, only to be met with machine-gun fire. 247 women and 205 children died in the brutal attack. The only survivor was 47-year-old Marguerite Rouffanche. She escaped through a rear sacristy window, followed by a young woman and child.[3] All three were shot, two of them fatally. Rouffanche crawled to some pea bushes and remained hidden overnight until she was found and rescued the next morning. About twenty villagers had fled Oradour-sur-Glane as soon as the SS unit had appeared. That night, the village was partially razed.

Several days later, the survivors were allowed to bury the 642 dead inhabitants of Oradour-sur-Glane who had been killed in just a few hours. Adolf Diekmann said the atrocity was in retaliation for the partisan activity in nearby Tulle and the kidnapping of an SS commander, Helmut Kämpfe.

Hard to believe an American made that post. You have cold beer and a Miranda warning because of armed resistance.

I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

We can discuss the war of Indpendence.

Yes, I was taught the myth of American Revolution as were you. Yet in actuality the British won most of their encounters against the colonists but both the size of the land and the population of the colonies would have required almost much more man power than British troops had available to control the colonies and once France recognized the colonies the English did not have a chance since they were involved in a power struggle with the world powers of that time.

I suppose the British could have had a thousand Boston Masscres but what would have been the point in that?

Show me where non-military armed civilians have won a war in recent history.

Or perhaps more interesting, what makes you believe that if armed civilians were to overthrow the US government citing tyranny as their cause that they will respect anything to do with the US Constitution?

I realize it sounds wonderful to think that the musket is reason we live in the swamp we do today. Yet history is a lot more complex than that and does not work that way. History happens because of multiple causes and effects.

Historians are a good place to start.

I recall a conversation some years ago between myself and my wife (who hails from Boston). When explaining the American victory in the War of Independence to me she said that it had resulted because the colonists had hid behind trees and sniped at the British while they stupidly marched very slowly towards them in bright red outfits (they might just as well have painted targets on themselves). Actually – as I should have said at the time – the Americans were pretty faithful to the European style of warfare and fought in much the same way (nor were the British shy about deploying irregular forces). At Bunker Hill, New York, Saratoga, Brandywine, Charleston, Guilford Court House and Camden the Americans chose to fight fixed European engagements and contrived to lose most of them. George Washington for example was recently voted the most formidable military opponent ever faced by Britain. In a certain sense (keeping his army intact and resilient) this is true but his performance at times was so bad at times he was nearly sacked in favour of General Gates. He succeeded in maintaining a siege of Boston and forcing a British retreat but he also ordered the disastrous invasion of Canada and presided over the near collapse of his army at New York in 1776.He was successful at conducting raids at Princeton and Trenton but he also lost at Brandywine and Germantown later that year. In the entire war after the Princeton and Trenton raids he had only one success – the shining exception of Yorktown.

I'm just wondering how the Miranda warning ("you have a right to remain silent and have an attorney") is related to firearm owners or ownership. https://usconstitution.net/miranda.html

Then again, it's like the mythic connection between God and guns. (Though, we have to wonder why He didn't supply the early (or, not fake) Christians.
