Haven't they found metal swords dating back to the yellow emperor? That would suggest some form of study and discipline to be used effectively. Circa 2600 BC?
The form is the notes, the quan is the music

Is this for surviving records?

Wrestling and sparring by primates and other mammals has to be much, much older. Same wth real fighting between tribes etc.

Sword of Goujian and Spear of Fuchai: sometime 771-403 BC

Could also add milestones for famous CMA figures like Wang Lang, Gu Ruzhang, Yang Luchan, Dong Haichuan, Du Xinwu, Sun Lutang, Huang Feihong, Five Tigers Going South, etc.

And how could we leave out Yip Man and Bruce Lee, with all the movies these days? ;D

The first fight between Cain and Abel should be before 3000 BC but it was only reported by Moses after 1446 BC. Every if all these were valid we do not have any working variable. But we can relate stretching exercise to the stretching and recoil cycle developed in Chinese Martial Arts demonstrated the various adhering techniques.

Supposedly Shaolin monks learned yoga from Bodhidharma, and their exercises helped them develop their martial arts. This story at face value seems a little far fetched. Many animals (such as cats) stretch, spar, and fight. But they didn't learn to do it in that order. Humans and primates didn't learn stretching before they learned fighting. Humans are much better with tools and planning, though, so the more our brains developed, the more we could systematically work on anything (such as war and war arts). I have no idea if this is a tangent or on your original topic.

we humans have the same "reflexive" streching method as cars and dogs, we do it after staying put to long in the sofa or after a nights sleep, it serve to liven up the muscles and limbs. from this we might have experimented and developed more structural methods.....About bodhidharma and chinese arts got isomewhat nspired from india, i would also like to point out persian traders who came along the silk road, many of them settled in just henan province not far from Shaolin temple, that mural in the temple where fairer skined monks spar with darker skin monks always had me wonder what that was about

From Dao Yin (168 BC) to 5 animal play of Hua Tuo (140 – 206) makes good sense. May be this is where the meridian theory connected to exercise.

Zhuangzi’s Ingrained ideas, translated by James Legge:

Blowing and breathing with open mouth; inhaling and exhaling the breath; expelling the old breath and taking in new; passing their time like the (dormant) bear, and stretching and twisting (the neck) like a bird - all this simply shows the desire for longevity. This is what the scholars who manipulate their breath, and the men who nourish the body and wish to live as long as Peng Zu are fond of.

Dao Yin is not connected to the teaching of Laozi and Zhuangzi, as in Ingrained ideas Zhuangzi said that saintly person does not practice Dao Yin and has longevity. So it is a mistake to teach Dao Yin as a kind of Daoism or Taoism. In the "Three Kingdoms" written by Chen Shou (233-297) around 290 told the story of Hua Tuo and reference to the five animal play as an alternative to Dao Yin.

Hello, I'd like to maintain a 'cool post count' of 108 posts. This particular post has gone beyond that number and has therefore expired.

I'm sorry if you were looking for some old information but I'll do my best to answer you if you send me a DM with a question in it.
