In what sense do you mean? Not trying to put words in your mouth, but in reference to the picture, do you mean regarding war, that the money for the cost and from the benefit of war is the highest virtue of the USA since the 13 colonies or earlier?
The enslavement of Africans was done for profit --unless you think it was a racial thing. By keeping slavery, the US made a pact with the devil and contradicted its fundamental premise for seeking freedom from Britain. While I was growing up, it was common to hear that the Civil War wasn't about slavery. It wasn't; it was about economics. The morality of slavery wasn't questioned in the south. Though, it was rationalized using race, politics, religion, and the economy.
After the Civil War, during Reconstruction, the conflict wasn't racial in the south. There was merely a competition for resources. Black-owned businesses were simply competitors to those owned or created by returning Confederate veterans. In fact, the KKK was formed by those people as a way to take care of their own: i.e., rebel veterans, widows, and their children. Anyway, the competition was also for jobs necessary to rebuild the south. Hence, laws that landed many ex-slaves in prisons that the state then farmed out to build roads and work on plantations. It was economical.
I could go on. The US didn't enter WW2 for moral reasons, or even to help Jews. After the war, the US's new "military industrial complex" was dedicated to maintaining war-time production through the promotion of conflicts. Anyway, my point is not that the US military is connected to slavery (though the "militia" part of the 2nd Amendment is). My point is that the US does not act on moral grounds. Moreover, when there is a clear choice between money and even the appearance of morality, the US chooses the money. Khashoggi is an example. Even it was clear what happened, even the most allegedly religious televangelist argued that "we can't give up $300 million because of one man."
I could cite people from the 1800s who'd point out the same thing; that "America" has only ever pretended to be moral. It hides its immorality behind false piety. It puts God on its money. America's real god is Mammon, and always has been. "America is false to the past, false to the present, and solemnly binds herself to be false to the future." Naw, the only thing I will take back is that I don't really mean "America" or refer to all "Americans."
Ha, you don't know what I mean
"A man is rich when he has time and freewill. How he chooses to invest both will determine the return on his investment."
