Hey, the story's not fast, but it's deep. Each character mixes history/mythology classic and folk from the various continents and plants them in the US (Cairo, Memphis, St. Louis).
For example, the literary references in this last episode have to go over many peoples' heads. Someone who's read "The Colored Museum" will recognize Anansi's reference to the "snap." Shucks, they might even recognize Anansi.
