They also tend to see "nationalization" of the government, the economy, or its resources. Nationalization of fuel or anything --even if for the benefit of the people-- is considered "socialism." And, socialism is bad because " look at the USSR." That's why the US has been against Venezuela; it nationalized its petroleum industry. Gas there was 15 cents a gallon in the 90s. There were elections. It's just that Chavez was definitely a "leftist". Moreover, he supported resistance movements --though, unlike the US, he did not support drug traffic.
Anyway, there'll be a lot of anti-socialism talk coming up. For some reason, we'll be able to negotiate with Kim, but not ... with the people who don't have nuclear weapons.
As to which of Jesus's writings I'd recommend, I'd say read the Book of Luke. It has the most of Jesus's life and acts.
