Maybe the problem for companies that limits their possibility to change has much to do with branding. Big brands are well know with products and/or services that looks and feels the same way, works the same, have the same functions etc. A company and any brand need to keep its own originality and trademarks. A Coca-Cola needs to taste like a Coca-Cola and a Pepsi like a Pepsi. Windows and Apple have different philosophies and so does LG and Samsung. They can't really change what they are and must adapt to the market while keeping their brands intact. If a big company wants to enter new markets, the solution is often to create new brands or buy up competing companies.

I definitely work for an orange company that acquired some teal ones.

some shit that the teal companies did was stupid stuff that orange ones don't do, but some of the process and short term profit actions that the orange company wants to do is so much overload from the teal pov, and not necessarily the best.

so, fighting change issues from both sides at the moment. none of it is intellectually hard or interesting, but it's all just "human" work, which is the hardest work there is imo.
amateur practices til gets right pro til can't get wrong
/ better approx answer to right q than exact answer to wrong q which can be made precise /

It's really hard to scale a teal (self-organizing/ integral) company, so most of them stay as niche products or small consultancies.

Self-organised people are hard to find, hard to categorise and tend to be expensive. So once you start delivering products or services at scale it's far easier to build a hierarchical system that most people can muddle through and is fairly predictable, than get a bunch of independent thinkers together and hope they can self-organise towards profitability.

For someone who's stuck in an org who's developmental level doesn't match their own, there's really only a few options for change:

1. Leave the org to find a better fit (maybe hard, depending on one's marketability)

2. Change the org (very hard)

3. Become an "internal" consultant, be someone in the org who goes around and fixes things with minimal supervision. You'll probably have to do this on your own time until you've proven yourself, and there's no guarantee whether you'll piss everyone off or you'll pick up an executive sponsor. You will be noticed in either case and then it's up to you to negotiate your new skill set. Welcome to consulting land! Good luck!

no interest in consulting from me but I do like the idea of advising people

I'm ok with the orange company insisting to use its strength. Definitely can't stay teal at this size.

Yeah, orange companies typically are all about the short term (read: stock price, stockholders). This also leads to the easy way to make the numbers better - just fire lots of people (easier to lower expenses than to raise revenues).

It's not easy to turn teal from orange, especially for a big organization, but it's more about unwillingness to lose the hierarchy (power). The tendency for orange companies is for most people to become good followers; green or teal are better at keeping their intelligence.

back more on the psychological, I was watching a video by jim kwik (kinda like tony robbins but focused on your brain).

he was saying that lifelong learners have longevity. those record breaking japanese women always say they are still learning something.

you need novelty and nutrition for the brain for neuroplasticity. if you think you already know it all, you lose neuroplasticity, and you also harm your longevity btw.
