Haha, no it isn't me, not that good looking. :)

My bad, post wasn't clear. The time that this gent was bouncing, was about the time I used to be in West End of London. The places he mentioned; Bar Rhumba and Tiger Tiger, were of that time.

Palm strike to the chin for the win!

I wish more aikido was like this. I went to a class once. I appreciated what they were doing but couldn't bring myself back after the teacher got angry when I asked about the chop we were doing.

"In aikido we don't strike!"

The strike to the neck is deadly too!

The great Serji Sugano would always show a little one knuckle punch to set up a lock or takedown

Yeah out here in the SF area there are Aikido instructors who teach some of types of striking. Unfortunately this place wasn't one of them.

Atemi (当て身) are strikes (or feints) employed during an aikido technique. Some view atemi as attacks against "vital points" meant to cause damage in and of themselves. For instance, Gōzō Shioda described using atemi in a brawl to quickly down a gang's leader.[21] Others consider atemi, especially to the face, to be methods of distraction meant to enable other techniques. A strike, whether or not it is blocked, can startle the target and break their concentration. The target may become unbalanced in attempting to avoid the blow, for example by jerking the head back, which may allow for an easier throw.[33] Many sayings about atemi are attributed to Morihei Ueshiba, who considered them an essential element of technique.[34]

Yes, apparently this school was pushing the line that aikido was a non-violent martial art.

I like this video, the position of his arms and movements are found in the Wu style.

Thanks for introducing me to this channel.

My life has been busy for the last ten years raising my kids and looking for a good job but I finally have a good job and my kids are bigger so I have been training more and this man is an inspiration.
