Interestingly Aliens and Tomatoes where mentioned here. That story is actually more down to earth than what one might think of at first glance.....Now this little background story might not contain any direct history facts on the martial arts(of China) But should be sorted out anyway for further understanding on the history of XYQ and Chinese martial arts in general......So Aliens & Tomatoes, it all began with with seafaring Vikings, skillfully lead by the courageous navigator Leif Ericsson. With just the horizon of the wild sea ahead they set sail westward. Leif thought of his ancestors had once done the same and found land(Britain), so it will happen again he courageously thought. And so it happened they found new land which they called Vinland, Leif had discovered the Americas....Soon more expeditions followed and they sailed and settled all along the east coasts of the Americas. But most of the Vikings sailed back to Scandinavia(Europe) and brought along all kind of new things from the new world, Tomatoes where one such “thing”....So how about the Aliens part of the story you may wonder !? well while in the new world those tall blond Vikings where as alien as aliens can be in an alien place...And also you might wonder why didn’t Tomatoes become (well)know in the “old world” until centuries later, well the simple reason was that it just didn’t fell well with the taste buds among most Europeans of that time and the plant where past on to the backyards and forgotten..... As I said this factual story does not directly tie to anything Chinese and martial art. But however about the Vikings that sailed the Americas, some of them settled in the Caribbeans and there invented the art of Rum making. And from here we eventually have the beginning of the story on how Chinese martial artists came to soak their fists in Rum. It all began with a free spirited and free trading Englishman sailing the Caribbean under the flag of Jolly Roger............
