I guess your point is the moves won't really work against a boxer and if so you're right. Most often boxers wouldn't leave thier arms out long enough for them to really work in the standard pushing/sticking range.
The moves mostly work at a specific range which is inside fist but outside clinch and is the normal sticking range for most ima. Paul is just showing a few nice examples of that as a teaching method.
A nice follow on video would be how to use this sticking & trapping in clinch range or how to catch someone just coming in and out of clinch range. I also think this is vital training for all people doing pushing and sticking hand play but it seems like a rarely practiced method. That and how to escape body locks and leg take downs using similar sticking/pushing methodology.
