The Jade Engraving on Breathing

The Jade Engraving on breathing dated back to the Warring State period (475-220 BC):

行氣深則蓄,蓄則伸,伸則下,下則定,定則固,固則萌,萌則長,長則退,退則天。天幾(機) 舂(動) 在上,地幾(機) 舂(動) 在下。順則生,逆則死。
The movement of the qi: When it becomes deep, it stores. When itstores, it extends. When it extends, it goes downward. When it goes downward, itbecomes stable. When it is stable, it becomes strong. When it is strong, it begins to germinate. When it germinates, it grows. When it grows, it then retreats. When it retreats, it becomes Heaven. The dynamism of Heaven moves upwards and the dynamism of Earth moves downwards. Following it, one lives; opposing it, one dies.

If you want to get an idea of just how old this stuff actually is, read Star.Ships by Gordon White. It is a phenomenal book about early human history, magic, the formation of society, and the incredibly unstable nature of the environment.

The Chinese, and Egyptians, are interesting from the perspective of their having a written language for such a long period of time. However, human beings have been genetically what we are for between 80,000-200,000 years depending upon who you ask. A tremendous amount of our history is simply unknown.

Star.Ships looks at this and comes up with some very interesting answers.

He debunks the whole aliens thing as well. Although I like the meme.

When you understand evocation, it is easy to see how people can inadvertently communicate with something non-human and confuse it for any number of things.

This might be a better translation:

The movement of the breath: When it becomes deep, it stores. When it stores, it extends. When it extends, it goes downward. When it goes downward, it becomes stable.
