The initial ridicule of "soft sciences (social sciences?)" followed by a mocking of "hard science" is just really weird.

Then there is the strange denial of the obvious (well, obvious if one has done even the most cursory of reading) and apparent gleeful mockery of anyone who wants to address the profound effects that humans are having on just about all earth systems, but especially, the biosphere.

It's like an audition for Bond villains.

It's okay, Greta will always be more Alpha than Rordan, no matter how many memes he posts. Meanwhile, the outdoorsman is doing all the mental jujitsu he can to curtail saving that which he presumably loves.

And, for the record, we don't really call it "majoring" at the doctoral level. But, we have plenty of undergrad students who are conservative laissez-faire capitalists as our school is famed for that sort of thing (home of Milt Friedman and all that dubious baggage carries with it), and even then don't fight this hard against the science, they simply seek to innovate and work within the paradigm we have created.

Might have also been the sabre tooth tigers contributing to a reduced average life span. Just sayin'.

Life expectancy was 35 200 years ago in the US. Public health is the multivalent source of us doubling our life expectancy, much of that coming from childbirth and vaccines (and sure, less sabre tooth tigers).

Anyway, I thought there were these advanced alien civilizations millions of years ago??

Sounds a bit speculative, so I wouldn't know about anything about it.

RSF is about cold, hard, Cartesian facts, so let's have no more speculation about aliens and future dystopian societies based on rules etched on some stones. ;)

Running out of time, but the sails are set and the Katamaran is on its way. So let’s pray to God that the strong winds of climate change let the crew arrive to Spain on time.....

Ok....the guys to the right say science(soft&hard?) is the cause for climate change and now they(scientists)try to fix it (and by so probably might making more of a mess than what they believe they already has achieved 8-) )
And the guys on the opposite side say climate fluctuations are the most natural thing, happens all the time since the dawn of time.
But group one in order to justify their own science doctorate expertise also claim that there’s a third group that say there’s no climate change at all.
By so their opposition seem bigger and eviler....All to fool the grey mass.....

What will come out of it all ? science might create an dystopian world and make alien contact.

insisting the two are prophets who must be listened to cannot be excused.

Exactly another example of

Miscaracherizations (and misunderstandings) abound.

No one here has said she is a prophet or that she must be listened to. We just made fun of you for making fun of her. Why should you care?

I think people who are living in reality and have an inkling of what is going on in this thread have pointed out that it makes sense to listen to the experts, especially as there is such an overwhelming consensus. Has anyone here called her a prophet? Or an expert? Nope.
