I usually think about it more like sumo. It doesn't seem as "technical" as MA, but that would make sense because you need to create a little space to get by, not win a wrestling match. That last comparison seemed like a huge stretch.

the incidental hand fighting in soccer/association football is more interesting to me b/c you need to do it w/o getting called for a foul, you're trying to do something even more technical (if you're on the ball) while doing it, you need to be ready to take the fall (like exaggerating what your push hands partner did to you in a demo ;D ) if it's to your advantage to possibly draw the foul in front of the ref. so all your "push hands" has to be really disguised.

Dan Innosanto introduced this into nfl over 30 years ago
I taught this sort of thing in rugby league about the same time
I was asked to teach the Balmain Tigers first grade side but couldn't find the time

interesting if it came from jkd/fma/wing chun. it's hard to imagine they didn't have similar moves from wrestling already.

"Hand fighting" is the same term used for a similar set of skills foundational to catch-as-catch-can (or Lancashire) wrestling.

Rugby League has taken so much from wrestling and bjj these days
They are the complete sportsmen for martial arts
There is nothing I could offer them these days
Try to find rugby league warm ups
A lot of good stuff there
Quite a few players don't make the field because they get hurt in the warm ups
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form
