I don't think his opinions came back to bite him :) Life just happened. Plenty of people who don't get the vaccine do just fine. Personally, I got the vaccine (first shot, second yet to come) because of peer pressure and wanting to have more freedom to move around. It's too annoying and exhausting saying you're not vaccinated. People look funny at you. Guess peer pressure was/is pretty important for survival of our species throughout history.

Sorry if my previous post sounded like an attack again :) I'll have to pick my words more carefully.

IMO people just like to use cases as his in this way:

'See, I told you he was a piece of shit. His opinions/worldview stray too far away from ours/mine. He got what he deserved for spewing such nonsense.'

Ofc it doesn't matter what you believe in - right or left or whatever - people get trapped in this line of thinking too easily :)

Edit: re family status and age. Absolutely :) Can't imagine the burden and worries when other people depend on you. Would certainly influence my decision as well.

There are 292 studies (219 are peer-reviewed) proving the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine as both a treatment and prophylaxis against COVID-19. Ivermectin has 93 studies (54 peer-reviewed) showing its effectiveness as treatment and prophylaxis against COVID-19. Despite the now-indisputable fact that these drugs essentially kill COVID-19 within hours or days, the Bill Gates-funded World Health Organization (WHO) and big pharma are having fits over India’s new guidelines and the results.

And now the COVID cases are plummeting.

NEW DELHI (AP) — India on Wednesday reported more coronavirus deaths in a single day than any other country at any time during the pandemic, while infections continued to spread through vast rural areas with weak health systems.

The Health Ministry reported a record 4,529 deaths in the past 24 hours, driving India's confirmed fatalities to 283,248. It also reported 267,334 new infections, as daily cases remained below 300,000 for the third consecutive day. The numbers are almost certainly undercounts.

It's a wonder that India, in particular, has so many cases and deaths, when they had the cure over a year ago. ???

Hydroxychloroquine
This antimalarial drug is a subject of debate over its efficacy against Covid.

The WHO halted its HCQ arm in the Solidarity Trial following a study in The Lancet, then reinstated it after a retraction by the authors

India is the largest producer of this drug. Doctors use HCQ use in Covid patients with symptoms as mild as headache, fever, body pain, and even in critically ill patients. ICMR guidelines recommend low doses for nine days. “This drug is helping in faster recovery, but that is just preliminary assessment,” one doctor said.

Others warn against side effects such as a chaotic heartbeat.

Said Dr Gunjan Chanchalani, chief intensivist in Mumbai’s Bhatia Hospital, “We reduced HCQ use to very few patients after so many negative reports came in medical literature.
Now we plan to completely stop using HCQ.”

Interesting to note the decision based on medical reports not their own
empirical based usage. Wonder who wrote the reports

What can we learn from this sorry saga of hydroxychloroquine?

The WHO and other national health agencies, universities and charities have conducted large clinical trials which appear to have been designed so hydroxychloroquine and its cousin chloroquine would fail to show benefit in the treatment of Covid-19, perhaps to advantage much more expensive competitors and vaccines in development.

In so doing, these agencies and charities have de facto conspired to increase the number of deaths in these trials. In so doing, they have deprived billions of people from potentially benefiting from a safe and inexpensive drug, when used properly, during a major pandemic. This might contribute to prolongation of the pandemic, massive economic losses and many increased cases and deaths.

And while HCQ and ivermectin have been around for many decades, and are known to be quite safe, serious concerns remain regarding these COVID-19 vaccines which have been rushed through the process of development, testing, approval, and now distribution, with a new “messenger RNA” technology, no industry-standard animal trials, nor any sufficient studies on long-term effects.

These concerns include “allergic” and “potentially fatal reactions,” as well as concerns about the potential impact on fertility.

As some may know the vaccines developed have immunity from liability due to their emergency usage. Always good to have tested and low cost pharmaceuticals to use as prophylactics against the virus as an alternative for those having them widely available at low-cost, with unavailability or not trusting vaccinations currently developed.

Meanwhile, effective ways to limit the spread of COVID-19 continue to be to wear your mask, stay at least 6 feet from others who don’t live with you, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowds.

They seem to have left out, protest, riots, and demonstrations
approved activities the virus does not affect .

Party on

we probably covered it, but good job cdc for making a science-based policy, but ridiculously bad job for not considering logistical facets. they really failed to think all that mask / no mask stuff, through didn't they? so once again, decision are made by local govts, companies, other groups, etc. what's the point of a recommendation in that case? may as well still have "we don't know and are hands off, and we think the earth is flat and the sun revolves around us, and there are pearly gates right above where we can see clouds".

It's important to keep in mind that the CDC is only structured to provide strategic level advisory services to the executive branch of the US federal government.

They are not an operational organization. Even having them speak to the public via things like press meetings is probably a bad idea. They are not structured for it, do not do it with any frequency and are consequently bad at it. Their inept operational behavior was clearly on display throughout the Covid-19 situation.

Likewise, they can, at best, provide technical information, which can be useful. But they do not consider, and should not be asked, how to implement anything. Anything they do come up with should only be taken as an individual data point relative to overall government policy.

You see this in engineering all the time. You have the cost prohibitive, unrealistic time line, elegant, and perfect solution. Then you have what can actually be done on a reasonable timeframe at an acceptable cost. Engineers should never be the final decision makers on a product and the analogy works with the CDC.

A bureaucrat like Fauci should never have been allowed to speak to the public. A number of reasons exist for this, not the least of which is that he is not accountable via personal liability, let alone the ballot box, for any of the decisions he makes. He is, at best, an apolitical advisor working behind the scenes. He should have remained there. Advisors often have problems understanding this.

As an advisor the first thing you have to get drilled into your head is that you are not a decision maker, you are not the face of the organization and it is your job to inform the decision maker. That's it. When performed well it is an emotionless and egoless job.

Fauci violated that pretty much from the very beginning. His series of complete failures during the HIV crisis should have forced him out of government decades ago. His presence during Covid was less than helpful and very polarizing. Not good.

Maybe time to check what's really going on in Fort Diedrick? ???

Maybe also examining how they actually used the bat samples they received from China and to do a knew investigation about why it suddenly shut down in the summer of 2019? :P

More Evidence Suggests COVID-19 Was in US by Christmas 2019

A new analysis of blood samples from 24,000 Americans taken early last year is the latest and largest study to suggest that the new coronavirus popped up in the U.S. in December 2019

...federal health officials are increasingly accepting a timeline in which small numbers of COVID-19 infections may have occurred in the U.S. before the world ever became aware of a dangerous new virus erupting in China.

“The studies are pretty consistent,” said Natalie Thornburg of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
