Here is Nassem “speaking”:
Actually it’s pretty simple concept which u can find in other martial arts as boxing or even in soccer.
You are simply conditioning all the time, stretching the limits of your abilities. You move from big (body) areas to small areas, but only if your body is able to make that step. We call it 空意 or 意空 empty Yi. So of course in the beginning you need to focus on a lot of things and and u may be overwhelmed by it all.
The reason why the more experienced practitioners are not paying constant attention to every detail in training is because their bodies are already conditioned to certain stress.
So that means if u move yourself to the tipping point of your balance and try to not lose it, your body will gain stability through instability ( that’s not that easy to understand).
So when we practice we simple start with one motion and end after a certain time without breaking the “flow”, in this way we try to move the created body tension to a subconscious level.
And that is in my opinion the biggest difference between our Ziranmen and Yiquan. Both look very similar in idea and partial in motion but when a Yiquan practitioner tries to increase and focus Yi till a certain level, we try to have less and less of it.
But in the end also the Yiquan practitioner must get rid of it ,as WXZ once said or wrote 意到无意 from Yi to no Yi.
But one could argue now that everything is Yi, but if everything is Yi then there is nothing to discuss.
