That's a pneumonic from my air force tech school days.
Higher frequency signals travel better than lower frequency signals (basically... there's a lot of factors) so in analog FM frequency modulation transmission you combine your information with a particular carrier frequency in order to make it transmit better and also allow you to place it specifically within the frequency spectrum and transmit multiple channels of information simultaneously.
The video is interesting but there are many factual errors. It's a good jumping off point for further study Imho
