Avatars?

Postby fuga on Tue May 13, 2008 6:58 pm

My web fu needs work.

How do I upload an avatar for my profile?

I tried to put in the URL for an image at photobucket and it said the URL is invalid.

Thanks.

It saw Medium. Wash in warm water. Do not dry clean.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

What should I be looking for in the tags?

you should be able to just put the URL in.... make sure you copied the URL ONLY, and not the "IMG" code.

This probably sounds dumb, but where do I find the tags

The tags in my case had IMG in brackets before and after the URL - I just removed those and it worked after I resized it.

So if you go to photobucket, do a search and find an image, when you click on the image it will have url addresses or codes associated with whether you want it to be on a forum or a blog, etc. I copied the forum code, then pasted it in my profile, then took out the IMG tags before and after the code. If you are not getting your image from photobucket, I have no idea.

Hope this was helpful. I am learning as I go.

I have to admit i am still having problems with the avatar. Trying ti get me old Samurai Jack pic to work but it either tells me it is too large or it can't determine the size.

Any pointers for a numpty?

sorry, just for a quick note.

tags are the bracketed items before and after a URL in this instance.

in bb, tags usually are square bracket or [ and in html they use gt/lt a la < at the beginning and end.

so, when fong says, "just the url" he means remove and code wrapped in [ or < before anbd after the address.

this is what tags are.

I chuckled thinking about you looking at the back of your collar and trying to think about what that could possibly have to do with using a bbs. lol

This may be tedious for you techies but the procedure as described I see as follows:
Get an avatar from your hard drive or elsewhere, put it on photobucket or a similar site, remove tabs and other letters surrounding it then install it on EF-where do you transfer it to?

In your user control panel, go to profile, then edit avatar.

I've just installed a shit-ton of new avatars for you guys--mostly from anime and comics. they are phpBB3's default avatar pack 1.
