As for the chick, well, that is the point behind ballet. She's not exactly one of the great ballerinas, but she is a rising star. Considering that it pays better than taiji and has a more established training regime, its not surprising that she "has gungfu". How well she holds up remains to be seen. If she continues to do well, she will probably move to one of the better ballet groups.
