Are you a fan of H.P. Lovecraft? If so, then you know that HPL created such story devices as various books of black magic and forbidden lore (such as his most famous creation, The Necronomicon) and described these books with such detail that people believed them to be real. To increase the illusion of their reality, he mentioned them together with certain authentic books of esoteric lore such as the Daemonolatreia of Remigius, and Cotton Mather's Wonders of the Invisible World.
People have written scores of essays on the fictional "Black Books" mentioned by HPL in his tales (and have even created their own versions of these books, there are several "Necronomicons" in print), but no one has ever written anything very substantial on the REAL texts which HPL mentioned.... til now.
Being a rare book dealer, I actually possess in my own collection a fair number of old and antique editions of the real texts which Lovecraft included in his stories, and I've received assistance from several rare book dealers around the world in locating other volumes. I have written an essay on each of these (covering a bio of the author, what the book contains and various editions of the book) and have also included photographs of the books themselves, including tables of contents and illustrations or diagrams in the books.
I've actually decided to go the self-publishing route (Lulu.com) as that will leave me in full control of the project as well as giving me the best profit margin per book. I'm setting up a website right now, and I'll be advertising the book on occult and weird-fiction forums, as well as selling it on eBay. I'll let everyone here know when it's ready to release to the public and include a link for the website.
I've been fine-tooth-combing the text for any errors and I'm getting down to the final revision. I'm a total perfectionist, so it's taken awhile, but it'll be worth it. I'll keep ya'll posted....
